About Us

History:
Proudly rooted in tradition since 1954
Saskatoon United Soccer Club (SUSC) is the oldest and one of the most storied soccer organizations in Saskatoon and Saskatchewan. Founded on April 13, 1954, during a meeting at the historic KG Hotel, United began as a single men’s team with a passion for the beautiful game. Over the decades, that passion has grown into a community movement.
From our earliest days, SUSC has played a key role in shaping soccer in the province. We made history in the 1970s when our men’s team became the first club in Saskatchewan to win the Saskatchewan Shield three years in a row (1975-1977). In 1982, we matched a long-standing provincial record by earning silver at the national Challenge Cup—one of the best finishes ever by a Saskatchewan team.
Our growth hasn’t just been about trophies. SUSC has evolved into a fully inclusive club, offering competitive and recreational programs for boys, girls, and adults of all ages. Since 1984, our female teams have proudly represented Saskatchewan at national championships, continuing the legacy of excellence on and off the field.
Our home, Newsham Fields, is more than a training ground—it’s a place of memories, community, and connection. Generations of players, coaches, and fans have come together here, united by their love of the sport.
We’re proud to have produced some of Saskatchewan’s most respected soccer figures, including Hall of Famers Ray Jones, Doug Knott, Dave Newsham, and former Canadian Soccer Association president Andy Sharpe. Our coaching legacy includes pioneers like Huw Morris, one of the first in the province to earn a Canadian A-level coaching license.
Today, more than 70 years since our founding, the passion that built this club still burns strong. Our players—past and present—carry the spirit of Saskatoon United with them, from local pitches to international fields.
SUSC is a Quality Soccer Provider with Level 1 Status with Canada Soccer. SUSC's commitment to providing safe quality programming for children is ongoing.
TREATY 6:
Saskatoon United Soccer Club (SUSC) acknowledges Treaty 6 territory—the ancestral and traditional territory of the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, as well as the Métis. We acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We recognize the land as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we are greatfully playing on in growing the beautiful game.
