Jason Edighoffer

Jason’s Biography

Jason was born and raised in Saskatoon. His soccer career began in the Wildwood community at the age of 5 and he played there until the age of 12. During his time in Wildwood he was coached by Rob Garden, Vern Racz and John and Elizabeth Tosney. After his family relocated to an acreage on the west side of the city, he decided to play for the Mayfair community until the age of 15 and was coached by Al Day, who later became a coaching mentor for Jason. He played in both indoor and outdoor leagues during his youth career and was a part of numerous city and provincial championship teams.

At the age of 15 he began his senior men’s career with Arsenal, coached by Dr.Jim McGettigan. From there he went on to play with the Silver Foxes, Paladins and Cameco. At the age of 18 he was asked to go to the Golden Boy tournament in Winnipeg with a select group of young men. There he was asked to tryout for the “soon to be” Edmonton Drillers of the NPSL. Over the next 2 years he trained off and on with the team (under coach Ongaro) and made 3 appearances in friendly matches. Unfortunately, his career was cut short due to a severe knee injury.

A year after his return to Saskatoon (and a lot of physio) he was approached by a member of a team in men's Division 1 known as Eclipse. From there he continued his playing career with this team and helped build one of the most successful men’s teams in Saskatoon – Eclipse F.C. His post secondary level of soccer included playing for Dave Jenkins at Kelsey Siast and on the practice roster for the Sait Trojans in Calgary, AB. Today, he is still playing in senior men’s for Arauco F.C. and in the Co-Ed league. He has been a part of many city and provincial winning teams over the years and has even been a part of a team that was awarded team of the year by the Saskatchewan Soccer Association.

Jason has been a part of the soccer community for a long time and enjoys being involved in every aspect of the game, from his first coaching experience with his “Eagles” U 12 div. 3 girls team to current SUSC U 15 premier boys. He has coached for more than 11 years and played for 40. He has been a part of the Saskatoon Adult Soccer Board, Referees Association, SUSC Board and HVCA soccer community. He currently holds all his community level coaching, “C” licence and is working on obtaining his “B” national certification.

I believe that every kid deserves an equal opportunity to play soccer at the highest level no matter what race, colour, creed or social standing. Each player will get out of the sport what they put in to it. Any dream can be achieved if they work hard for it.

“ I dream in black and white……but I’ll kick you butt in living colour!” – NO FEAR.
